News: Blockbuster in your in crib

October 14, 2009  |  by tcherryx  |  News, Tech, Television  |  Comments Off

blockbusterSo Blockbuster announced that in a partnership with TIVO they are finally introducing their movie streaming solution. I must say that it is to little, to late. Blockbuster has consistently been followers and not leaders in an industry that it once dominated. Netflix beat them to the punch with mail-order DVD’s and Blockbuster was quick to offer its own hybrid which offered a marriage between the mail and its retail locations. The Redbox came along and basically changed the game as we know it. Who still pays full price for a DVD rental? I cant do another box cluttering up entertainment center. I would rather use my good ol apple TV where I can keep my movies if I show chose and make them portable if i chose. Blockbuster will not exist as we know it in 5 years.

Tech: Microsoft Zune HD

September 15, 2009  |  by tcherryx  |  New Shit, Opinion, Tech  |  Comments Off

microsoft_zune_hd_02 So today Bill Gate’s super company Microsoft (MS) dropped the long awaited ZUNE HD.  This one is touchscreen and lets you access HD radio. I dont really see any reason to go run out and buy this device because I still have an 80GB Zune that I rarely use. I dont use it because it does not show up on my Mac at all, not even as a hard drive. When I had a PC my biggest complaint was that it DRM (digital rights management) had no rhyme or reason. Example: Microsoft’s Fair play DRM powers Amazon.com’s Video service yet I could to sync any of my movies to the damn thing. MS wanted me to re buy the shit on The Zune Marketplace. I am not buying shit twice. The Zune Marketplace, at least then, didnt have a lot content.

Overall if you are happy with Zune, touchscreen may be a welcome addition. It still lacks what the iPod Touch and iPhone can deliver in seamless customer experience.

Shout to whomever’s photo I used cant read the watermark.
