Music News: Bet Hip-hop Awards

October 27, 2009  |  by tcherryx  |  Celebrities, Music, New Shit, Television, Video  |  Comments Off

So the BET awards finally aired tonight. As usual BET’s subpar production turned top notch music into something that was barely watchable. I will state again, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW BET, which is owned by MTV, can honestly look themselves in the face everyday and continue to air any type of programming what so ever. Its not about Black programming or white programming…. its about the production quality of the programming. What the hell man? Come on man. Highlights Em killed the Cypher and

Music: Usher | Rockband

October 26, 2009  |  by Jason  |  Music, New Shit, Opinion  |  Comments Off

usherAfter the disappointment that was Papers, this newly leaked track from Usher’s upcoming album, Raymond Vs Raymond, has got my excitement up a little bit.  This is the direction that I want back from Usher, because his last album was a total bore.

Usher and Red One have a real cool chemistry, it seems.  It’ll be interesting to see if they have any more tracks together on the album.  I don’t know whether he’ll be able to ever completely live up to what Confessions was, but I’m really, really hoping that he can get there.  That album is still one I can listen to all the way through.

Marriage seems to have changed him musically, and not for the better.  I guess we’ll see if being back single changes anything for him.  Anyway, listen to the track when you…

Music: Guy Sebastian | Like It Like That

guysebastian

The latest offering from original Australian Idol Guy Sebastian is most definitely his best work to date.  Not only the best sounding, but he’s finally found a DEFINITE style of music that suits him amazingly.  After going through the more generic Pop/R&B and the Soul/Motown sound, he’s finally found a solid place for him to plant his feet.  While still pulling different inspirations throughout the album, it flows perfectly and the wide range of influences don’t sound at all out of place.

I’m really hoping Guy can make more of an impact in the US.  He’s started to get his name out a little bit, recording most of the album there, collaborating with a few US artists (Jordin Sparks, John Mayer) and doing shows here and there, he’s slowly but surely starting to build a fan base.  He’s definitely talented enough to warrant the attention.

First single, and also the title track, can be heard throughout the NBC summer campaign.  The video can be viewed below.

Like It Like That is available now in store and on iTunes.  Listen to a few of my personal favourites, Coming Home, Bring Yourself and Fail To Mention (with John Mayer guitar solo), when you…
