World News: Amanda Knox convicted

I remembered hearing about this story a while ago and thinking it was kind of messed up. I also was  thinking how lucky I am to be an American and have one of the most fair legal systems in the world. So I was watching 20/20 tonight and they interviewed the family’s reaction to Ms Knox being convicted in an Italian court for the murder of her British Roommate in 2007. She got 26 years instead of life in prison like they originally sought. Got to be more careful overseas I suppose. Dont take the flawed liberties that we do have for granted.

PERUGIA, Italy – American college student Amanda Knox was found guilty of murdering her British roommate and sentenced to 26 years in prison early Saturday after a year-long trial that gripped Italy and drew intense media attention.

Her co-defendant, former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, was convicted and sentenced to 25 years. The two also were found guilty of sexual assault in the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher, a 21-year-old student from England.

“No, no,” Knox said, bursting into tears and clinging to one of her lawyers as the judge read the verdict just after midnight following some 13 hours of deliberations.

Minutes later, the 22-year-old Knox, who is from Seattle, and the 25-year-old Sollecito were put in police vans with sirens blaring and driven back to jail.

Prosecutors had sought life imprisonment, Italy’s stiffest sentence. Courts can give less severe punishment than what prosecutors demand.

The American’s father, Curt Knox, asked if he would fight on for his daughter, replied, with tears in his eyes: “Hell, yes.”

PSA: Relationship Check-up

“If it’s not broke dont fix it” is how the old saying goes, but anything man made will eventually break over time if it doesnt go through routine maintenance. I am willing to wager that if you purchase a car and only put gas into it that over time it will not run anymore.

Since relationships are man made, maintenance is required no matter the type or level of commitment you have invested in the relationship. Do you remember the friends you had when you first departed high school? I bet your small circle made big plans for the future. Do you even still keep in touch with those same people? Life and time changes everyone’s perspectives and you probably grew in different directions as you got older. This is normal and healthy behavior.

You were madly in love once upon a time, but lately things havent being going that well. Ya’ll technically still together so the relationship isnt broke right? Dont fix it and see how fast you will be single. I know a lot people who are just content being comfortable.

Give each and every relationship in your life a firm check-up. Begin 2010 with only those who genuinely have your best interests at heart and that you can honestly say are worth keeping. Identify those bonds which may have fractures but are worth saving and work towards repairing them in 2010. Finally, separate yourself from those people and situations that you should not carry into 2010. The last step will probably be the hardest step. Why is it so hard to let go of Bad Habits, yet so easy to forget good habits? If are honest with yourself you will be a lot happier and you may push someone to change their ways. Its not about what everyone else thinks, its about what makes you complete.

Out with old and in with the new.

PSA: World Aids Day 2009

As I sit here and write this it saddens to think that a disease is running rampant because we as human beings can not practice restraint. Drug abusers and those that indulge in risky sexual behavior share one thing, lack of self control. We humans think that we can control everything up to and including the entire Earth itself, yet we put ourselves at risk because we have cant have safe sex or go without a unnatural high.

If we stopped having sex for two weeks worldwide and every sexually active person got tested we could probably destroy this menace of the world. If intervenious drugs were not so easy to obtain that would also slow the march of this global epidemic.

Fellaz I know how good it feels to be inside that wet wet the way the way we came into this world, naked. Why do we gamble with our lives? Is pussy really worth not seeing your parents, siblings, children and friends? Why through a lifetime for one good time? I am by no means saying not to have sex, Im just saying be smart and protect yourself.
Ladies, you are the gate keeper of all sexual activity. If you required every dude to wear protection, I’d bet the house that if a man had to chose between a condom and no sex at all he would chose condom 99.8% of time. I wouldnt think you would want to mess with that .2%. So if accommodating someone elses needs above the safety of yourself is worth more than your life carry on. There are some of you who just dont like condoms, I understand that… but not everyone should have that option/privilege.

To those who use drugs, I am not judging you because the good Lord knows that I have my vices. If you are going to use these type of narcotics that require you use a needle use your drugs safely and do not share your needles. I think you should get help and kick the shit all together, but like I said Im not judging. There are also numerous groups that give out clean needles to those in need.

The one thing that GOD gives all of us equally is free will. We can do anything that we want whether its safe or not. Does it amaze anyone else that AIDS/HIV for most part can infect us because of that free will that GOD gave us. The common cold and flu enter our bodies not because any one choice that we make. Think about that for a moment.
